Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) was formally founded and the first annual meeting was held at Beijing Hotel during 28 -30, April 1997. Professor Da-Tong Chu from Cancer Hospital, CAMS & PUMC acted as the first executive committee chairman. Professor Yan Sun from Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Cancer Hospital served as the first steering committee chairman.
October, 2002
CSCO established China Clinical Oncology Science Foundation in October 2002 to provide special funding for CSCO members’ clinical research and study.
May, 2003
CSCO formalized reciprocal membership with American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in May 2003.
October, 2004
CSCO formalized reciprocal membership with European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) in October 2004.
April, 2005
Beijing Xisike Clinical Oncology Research Foundation was formally founded in April 2005.
September, 2005
CSCO election conference was held during the 8th CSCO annual meeting in September 2005. Professor Jun Ma from the Institute of Hematology & Oncology of Harbin Medical University acted as CSCO executive committee chairman. Professor Yan Sun continued as the steering committee chairman.
May 11, 2007
First CSCO specialty committee “Melanoma Expert Committees” was founded on 11 May 2007, which opened a new chapter for standardized multidisciplinary treatment and clinical research.
August, 2008
Academician Yan Sun signed an agreement with President David Goldstein of Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) and announced that CSCO established reciprocal membership with COSA during CSCO annual meeting in August 2008.
July, 2009
CSCO hosted Best of ASCO® Event in China annually since from July 2009 in cooperation with ASCO, which introduced high quality course of ASCO annual meeting and was widely praised.
September, 2009
CSCO election conference was held during the 12th CSCO annual meeting in September 2009. Professor Shu-Kui Qin from Bayi Hospital of PLA acted as CSCO executive committee chairman. Professor Mei-Lin Liao from Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital served as the steering committee chairman.
March, 2010
In March 2010, CSCO Young Physicians Committee was formally established to foster interdisciplinary talents of clinical oncology career and academic elite youth. CSCO Young Physicians Committee organized a variety of special training programs and lively academic speech contests and visited Harvard University in the US for academic exchanges. These activities improved the comprehensive quality of young physicians and reserved talents for Chinese clinical oncology.
November, 2011
First Advanced Clinical trials Workshop China (ACT China) was held successfully by CSCO in cooperation with Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO and Society of Translational Oncology (STO) and then was held annually for three years. The lectures focused on the theoretical guidance and operation policy of clinical research. The trainees were strictly selected from designers or administrators of clinical trials, which was effective to improve multicenter clinical study of oncology in China.
February, 2012
In February 2012, A joint meeting CSCO, Japanese Society of Clinical Oncology (JSCO) and Korean Association of Clinical Oncology (KACO) was held to launch Federation of Asian Clinical Oncology (FACO). On 22 September 2012, FACO was announced to be established, which is committed to improve cancer therapy in the Asia-Pacific region and to promote multi-center study and drug development.

In September 2013, CSCO hosted the first International Conference of Federation of Asian Clinical Oncology (FACO) during CSCO annual meeting and invited Asia experts and researchers to attend this conference.

CSCO election conference was held during the 16th CSCO annual meeting in September 2013. Professor Yi-Long Wu from Guangdong General Hospital acted as CSCO executive committee chairman. Professor Jun Ma from the Institute of Hematology & Oncology of Harbin Medical University served as the steering committee chairman.
2014

In 2014, international sessions was first set up during CSCO annual meeting with internationally known societies including ASCO, ESMO, JSMO and IASLC.

All the international sessions were conducted entirely in English which reveal the international influence and strength of CSCO, and even China.

August, 2015
In August 2015, approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, CSCO officially became a national level A society. The original expert committees of CSCO were automatically updated to National level B societies.
April, 2016
In April 2016, the first CSCO clinical guideline release conference were held. Lung Cancer Guideline was the first one to be released. The guideline has distinct qualities in balancing regional development, accessibility and value of tumor treatment.

In April 2016, CSCO edited and published “China Clinical Cancer Advances 2015” for the first time.
April, 2017
CSCO simultaneously issued 5 guidelines, including Lung cancer, Breast cancer, Gastric cancer, Colorectal cancer and Melanoma guidelines in April 2017.

In April 2017, CSCO edited and published “China Clinical Cancer Advances 2016”.
